There's a little interview with me in the October issue of Bido Lito, where I gave them a brief history of Immix; talked about our upcoming show with Stealing Sheep, Fearghus Ó Conchúir and Aoife McAtamney; and even managed to change nationality. You can pick up a copy for free if you're in Liverpool, if you're not you can have a read here.
Immix Ensemble & Bill Ryder-Jones
I'm excited to report that the first show of Immix's 2015/16 season is happening on Saturday, August 8th as part of FestEvol at the Kazimier. This time around we're collaborating with the amazing Bill Ryder-Jones, premiering a brand new suite of music based on three dissociative 'episodes.' Bill has written some really amazing music which he'll be performing with us, and you can get a taste of what's in store by watching the video below. We'll also be performing a couple of short interludes by me. I can't think of a better way to kick off the new Immix season!
Twenty
Lately I've been working on some new solo material for woodwinds, piano and electronics, and have just put a piece up on SoundCloud, which sounds like this:
It's part of my plan to a) write more, and b) have some sounds up that are a little more relevant to what I'm doing at the moment.
Joe Snape's Fleck Tour
In May, the Berlin-based composer Joe Snape and Manchester's ACM Ensemble are touring around the UK with a large-scale work Joe has written for chamber ensemble, electronics and live text typist. As a part of their tour they are commissioning local composers to respond to the work, and I'm delighted to have been chosen to write a piece for their Liverpool show, which is happening on May 16th at Metal Liverpool. Joe's piece is going to be amazing - you can find out more about it here - and I'll be performing my piece with two of my favourite people, singer/songwriter Tom Cowcher and violinist Rakhi Singh.
